Broadband

With a little luck I should have broadband again on the 29th after several months of waiting, and two ISPs not delivering on their promises. Thanks to BT I should have my own connection shortly, as well as a wireless router I may not use, depending on how I can configure it. I should also get one of their pretty wireless phones, pretty pretty phone…
So I’ll have to see if it actually uses an 802.11 connection or if they have have frankensteined a wireless router and cordless phone together. Assuming it uses a wireless connection I’ll have to see if I can lock down the router enough to only allow access from the phone, after using someone else’s wifi for a while, I don’t want the same thing to happen to me, do I?

I’ve read up a bit on the router, so I know what connectors it has, which means I’ll hopefully be able to keep my existing network architecture and just swap out the crappy but reliable router we’ve been using with the BT one, shame you can’t seperate the phone cradle from it… Once I get to read through the instruction manual I’ll decide on whether I’ll actually swap it out or if I just keep it in my room. They’ve also given the thing a seperate phone number so that should be fun to play with, will also have to see to what extent I’ll be able to use it with asterisk if at all, time to grep my logs for #asterisk on freenode.
