The Death Penalty

I know quite a few people read this blog, though I’ll admit most of them come here looking for something called cottaging and I know most of you just browse away when you don’t find the porn you were looking for, and who could blame you?

But allow me a moment to get serious here, with the world media filled with news regarding Saddam Hussein’s execution and the mixed response from around the world regarding the morality of the death penalty, what is your stand regarding the death penalty?

I would love to hear if you have any comments regarding Saddam’s execution, the death penalty in general or if you have anything else to say regarding the issue.

A Level certificate and other things

I spent an hour and a half on the Thursday we broke up for christmas with the school secretary because the stupid cow wouldn’t give me my certificate, even after I offered to sign a receipt for it. For some reason, and even though every other school just let’s you pick it up if you sign for it, they seem to think that sending it via recorded post is infinitely better than giving it to me.

I’m 19 years old, and surely can be expected not to destroy my own property, at least much more than some uneducated postman working for minimum wage.

The certificate arrived on the next day, bent, and guess what? No one signed for it, if anyone signed for it, it was probably the postman.

Oh how I loathe bureaucracy, it’s full of annoying little people who have to show the world how important they think they are.

Social Searching

Filed under: Blogverts — Andreas @ 6:11 pm

We’re all familiar with the concept of social bookmarking and the obvious way to go was social searching, which is why I’d like to introduce what I personally view as a revolutionary take on web searching to you.

The Sproose home page let’s users search for various keywords just like any other search engine, and in the way users are used to searching for things, however the revolutionary step comes in through the way in which search rankings are handled.

People may vote on the links provided, and the higher their cumulative rating, the better their search ranking gets. Which in a sense makes it a kind of democratic search engine.

It’s definitely worth a look, so let me know what you think!

As always, even though this post was Sponsored by Sproose, it did not influence my findings in any way, and I hope you the reader found this useful.

Go me!

Filed under: General — Andreas @ 5:58 pm

I had planned to spend all day studying today, am I going to? Probably, but then all day has always meant doing small chunks of stuff, possibly the odd spider diagram of various chemical reactions, so there really is no reason not to study today.

The only problem is that I woke up at roughly 5 to 4pm today, so I’m a bit out of synch right now…

Had something else to do but I forgot what it was!

Online Marketing

I’ve recently had a couple of posts about online marketing, and various aspects to do with it, and as you may or may not know, search engine marketing is an interest of mine.

Why am I interested? Because having some kind of understanding of how it works may help to increase my ad revenue.

Which is where SEO Services come in, mr-seo.com host SEO tutorials, as well as other information on the subject.

This includes information on how to optimise your podcasts, which could be interesting even if you’re not involved in SEO.

As always, take a good luck around and you may find something you like, or at least learn something new.

This post was brought to you by the aforementioned company.

Coil Guns

Filed under: General — Andreas @ 7:35 pm

I’ve always wanted to build one which is why coming across this on hackaday the other day was very exciting. It details the construction of a guass pistol, which has roughly the same amount of power as your average CO2 powered air pistol, so the multi-billion arms industry isn’t threatened by non compustion weapons…yet.

Mostly because storing enough power as well as heat dissipation can be a little problematic, and since this a coil gun I’m not going to into the issues experienced by rail guns, but basically rail guns have to be serviced between firing at this current point of their development for a couple of reasons.

Anyway, since this thing is just a bit of harmless fun, and I’ve always wanted to build one I’m going to read up on the subject a little more. Also, the guy behind that site is going to offer kits as well as detailed instructions in the future, which I may buy for my own coil gun, assuming I ever build one…

PPP acquires Performancing.com

Filed under: Blogverts — Andreas @ 6:08 pm

PayPerPost have recently announced that they will be acquiring Performancing.com which I view as an exciting step forward. For those of you who don’t know what either of these companies offer, I’m going to go into some detail for you.

PayPerPost allow bloggers to make money blogging, by choosing to write about various sponsored subjects available to the PPP community. If these posts are approved, they will be paid after 30 days of the paid for post staying on their site. It’s a service which I use, and heartily recommend as I’ve had absolutely no problems with them so far and see no reason not to continue our current relationship.

Performancing, is a service I’m not currently a member of but have been considering to join and probably will join in the next few days. They offer a forum to bring professional bloggers together, the site itself is a group weblog written by professional bloggers for their peers. So you often see valuable tips for professional bloggers, a concept I find extremely useful. Furthermore any member is able to submit stories, so if you have something you want to share, go ahead and do it!

As for my opinion on the subject, I feel that it was an obvious move on PPP’s part, and one which will probably benefit both parties greatly in the future since they so obviously complement each other, PPP provides a way in which professional bloggers are able to commercialise their blogs, while Perfomancing provides an area in which ideas can be shared.

Edit: I signed up for it now, and like what I see so I’ll probably write a full review in the near future.

Got Paid

Today I was paid $18 and together with the $6 I got on Thursday I now have $24 which I made through PPP. I currently have $269 left, and probably would have reached my $350 mark by now if it wasn’t for the lack of suitable opportunities over the past week or so. Sadly the high paying opps get snapped up sometimes, otherwise I would have been able to make $30 just writing about London.

That doesn’t matter too much though, as I’m still confident in not only reaching my goal but also exceeding it.

It’s also the most amount of money I have ever made online, and so far it’s been unbelievably easy, so in any case easy money is always a good thing. As for Google Adsense I still haven’t been paid and it looks like I probably won’t be for quite a while.

So signing up for PPP certainly isn’t a bad thing.

Also this is just me being bored, not getting paid for this little pitch :p

Friends

Let me tell you a story, the story is about someone completely useless at using any kind of computer for anything but word processing (who by the way just spent £600 on a new laptop) and who called me yesterday for around 80 minutes in order to fix his windows install.

Digital Cameras

Filed under: Blogverts — Andreas @ 2:43 pm

Why do I want a HP camera? Well, there are a couple of reasons, most of which probably relate more to my laziness than my high regard of HP and their products. I’ve been meaning to buy a digital camera for quite some time now, and I’d really like a Digital SLR to experiment with, but with me being me I try to save up for one but never quite make it.

For example, recently I had to replace some parts in my computer after my old power supply failed, which ate into my savings at the time, but then I guess you can expect these things to happen when you have a crappy power supply.

Getting a point and shoot first is probably a far better idea, because I’d be able to carry it with me all the time, which is slightly more difficult with a SLR, and point and shoot cameras don’t attract as much attention. Let’s face it, when someone whips out a SLR of any kind people tend to look because most people are used to point and shoot cameras, so SLRs are exciting! Sadly thieves seem to prefer them too, life just isn’t perfect.

And after all I’ve been interested in digital photography as well as normal film based photography for a good five or six years now, I just don’t get enough practice due to my own laziness, it’s very cold outside honest.

As for HP, well ever since I was a little boy my dad used to tell me about HP printers and stuff, so I guess he’s the one who likes HP but it rubbed off on me to an extent, which is why I wouldn’t be averse to getting a free HP digital camera and photo printer to live out my artistic side which has been imprisoned in a deep dark corner of my soul…

That and I’d be able to take extremely unexpected pictures with it while promoting PPP :P

Edit:

Receiving a camera would be nice, I highly doubt I’ll get picked, but you never know. One HP product I’d much rather have would be one of those sweet blade servers I had the chance to play with at the Linux World Expo in October. The things I could do with it if I were able to put it in a datacentre somewhere would be rather cool, probably hosting my site and running a game server for a few friends of mine. Let’s face it, I can’t run something which draws a kilowatt of power at home.
