I got bored today and while trying to watch a DVD I decided that I may as well install a GPG front-end and generate a new key pair which I’ll actually use this time around (after forgetting the pass phrase for my previous pair).

Why does watching a DVD make me think of encryption?
That’s simple I use Linux and as a result every time I watch a DVD with copy protection I’m breaking the law! This might surprise you but it’s a simple fact of life, and one I do on a regular basis, every Linux out there who watches a DVD on their PC has to break the CSS encryption system, which is “zomg” illegal!
So I thought to myself, I may as well break another law and use strong encryption without the intention of ever giving the government my encryption key if they ask for it which would land me in prison thanks to post-9/11 retarded laws. Why do we have such stupid laws? Why to protect us from paedophiles and terrorists of course!
Terrorists really are out to get you, and they’re doing it by getting the government to take away your personal freedoms.
Anyway after generating my new key pair I installed a pretty sweet FireFox extension called FireGPG which integrates GPG seamlessly with FireFox and makes encrypting and signing text a breeze wherever you may choose to use it.
I’ve also added a page to this blog with my public key on it in case anyone is interested.
You never know it may just give me the incentive to create hundreds of categories like other bloggers, instead of just throwing everything into posts…
