Resurfacing

Westminster Council really knows how to spend our money, after the fire in front of Maida Vale Library, they closed the motorcycle bay and adjacent parking spots so said bay could be resurfaced.

This has somehow turned into the whole of Sutherland Avenue being resurfaced, or at least the lower end between Harrow road and Shirland road.

In the two months I have lived here the road has been resurfaced twice, however in the five years I have lived in this area I’m pretty sure they’ve resurfaced this stretch of road several times.

Giant waste of money? I think so.

Speaking of wasting money, I’m glad to see that the BBC likes to spend our licence  fees by staging giant food fights which involve actors throwing spaghetti, custard, various cakes, lobsters and other seafood.  I hope they made them eat it off the floor afterwards unless they used clever props.

Clean up

Just as I thought the council was never going to remove the scooters, and probably thought of it as a work of modern art produced by underprivileged inner-city children, they came and removed them.

Sadly I didn’t leave for work early enough to watch the actual removal, otherwise I might have had a chance to take a few photos of them being loaded onto a lorry and maybe even get some sort of statement by an employee of Westminster Council.

All that is left in front of Maida Vale Library today is some soot, a few assorted scooter parts, a disposable lighter and one of the burnt locks.

Photos of which are also on my flickr account.

Pandemonium

As promised I have attached a few photos of the recent fire in front of my local library, so you can gauge for yourself how rotten the world really is.

I sincerely hope who ever is responsible is going to pay for this, figuratively and literally.

Pubs and the like

If you’re like me then you probably enjoy going to different pubs, and you’re probably always looking for the perfect pub. Maybe you’re one of those people who wants to prove Orwell wrong by trying to find a pub which has more than eight characteristics listed in “The Moon Under Water”…

Or you may just be looking for a cool place to hang out with some friends for a while, in which case Trusted Places can help you, it allows users to rate and review pubs and anything else, from Off Licences to London restaurants.

It even ties in with facebook, so if you already have an account there, you won’t have to register with trusted places.

Overall a pretty cool site and one I’ll keep an eye on.

Oh the depravity!

I seriously hate London sometimes, and this is one of those days.

There is a bike stand outside of the public library about 100m down the road from here, on the other side of the road people usually park their motorcycles as well as scooters.

What do I see on my way to work today? Seven. SEVEN, burnt out scooters, and two burnt out motorcycles, so I stood there and stared at them for a while, a guy who works for Thames Water walked past and told me some kids set fire to them at 3am, and were caught.

What the fuck is wrong with people that they have to set fire to other people’s property for shits and giggles?

I’d have expected this sort of thing anywhere else, but Maida Vale is a nice area, which confuses me.

Anyway if they wrecks are still there tomorrow I’ll take a picture and upload it some time during the day.

The cactus has landed

As some people might know I have recently tried my hand at gardening (Which reminds me new pictures of my Salvia Divinorum plant are going up as soon as I have charged my camera) but what you may not know is that I bought a packet of cactus seeds on ebay a few weeks ago.

After reading the germination instructions, I stole some of my  mother’s soufflé dishes she never uses, and planted 3 or 4 cactus seeds in each after having sterilised the soil, and I have kept them wrapped in cling film ever since.

What surprises me is that one managed to germinate even though  my room is far too cold according to my instructions, but it did work so I’m not complaining. Think I’ll keep the rest on top of my TV though.

Site Look

Okay so I installed IE in Crossover a few days ago to sort out Uni accommodation because they suck and the website doesn’t work in any other browser. I got bored and decided to see how my site looks in IE6 with this theme, it’s absolutely horrid, which didn’t surprise me at all.

I then went to have a look at the theme I was/am thinking of switching to, and what do I see?

A big fucking “Switch to Firefox” logo with a spread firefox affiliate link for the guy who made it, now I do not remember enabling anything like that, and also got it in Konqueror. I’m not sure how anyone else feels about this but enabling something like that, especially something affiliate based, by default and then having it show up when someone uses a non mozilla based browser is just plain rude.

Unigoat!

So I had my results today, didn’t get what I needed to, instead of an AB I got a CC so rather than going to Reading I will be going to my insurance choice which is Leicester.

That’s assuming they sort my accommodation out…

Personally I don’t mind going to Leicester even though it’s 100 odd miles away as it’s supposedly a very bike friendly city with many bike paths and even public changing rooms, lockers and showers for cyclists!

Awesome eh?

I also got a job recently, so the site still hasn’t been updated, I come home way too tired for now.

I should update

I’ve not written and update for a while because I’ve gotten into playing EVE Online again, and will probably buy a subscription as soon as my trial runs out. After that I’ll look into renewing my account with in-game money.

The most interesting thing I came across in the last couple of days is beach volleyball in Regents Park, I didn’t know that they had a little sandy volleyball court otherwise I’d have gone before Saturday. I would have taken pictures but I thought they’d probably frown on a random person walking past taking pictures of scantily clad women jumping up and down…I’d have watched the match if I wasn’t taking someone to the train station at the time.

On a completely unrelated note I saw the pilot of “How I met your mother” on TV last night and decided I like it, sadly the BBC are making me wait quite some time until I get to see the next episode.

Speaking of late night BBC programming, they’re currently showing Farscape again, those who know me are already aware that Farscape is my favourite show ever, and they recently showed my favourite episode “Scratch and Sniff”, where Crichton and some of the other crew end up on the pleasure planet then proceed to take a lot of drugs.

Google money!

So I finally got my first google cheque today after about 2 years of having adsense installed on this website, hopefully this will be one of many.

I’d have taken a picture of it, but it’s nothing special and it’s only for around $100 so I didn’t see the need to do so.

If I ever get one for several thousand I’ll probably end up taking a picture of it, but until then I can dream.

My nightmare on elm street boxset also arrived!

woo.
